My "getting acquainted" letter is filled with tons of useful information about my first novel,
What Goes Around, its main character, Doug Carlson, and also about me, David O'Neal, the
author. No matter how much info I add, there's still more I could have added. So, I'll answer the
most common questions that arise here.
I don't have PC-Emulation on my MAC. What's with requiring that? How can I
read What Goes Around? That particular limitation was a very big issue for me back in the
early planning phases. Quite simply, I wanted the best presentation of my work. I figured it was
also a high desire for my readers. I wanted to satifsy both.
Sadly, PC Users are the much bigger market. That's one reason why Apple added PC-Emulation
to its product. That's the same reason why most software vendors target the PC market first. I'm
somewhat locked into the limitation of the ebook software. If you have a better option, I'd like to hear
about it. Email me.
I like to take my reading to bed with me. How do I print out a copy of
What Goes Around so I can do that? I'm sorry. For the moment, you can't do
that. I'll admit that I'm torn by this issue, since I have lots of good evidence supporting both sides of the
"print it" verses "don't print it" issue.
If you support one view over the other, let me know about it. With sufficient
feedback, I'll probably do what my readers ask.
I can't find your ebook on my computer. Is it saved in a special
location? There is no special location that I selected for saving it. When you downloaded the
zipped file, you selected where to save it, so I can't help you there.
Most people save all their downloaded files in their "My Documents" folder on their C:
drive. Look there first. If that fails, do a search for it. Search on "wga*.*" without the quote
marks. Once you find it, either write its location down or create a shortcut to it. I use a lot of
shortcuts to get to the files I use often.
I registered What Goes Around when I bought it, but it won't open now.
What's wrong? After registering, you should have no problem with it checking-in with the
registration server for the next 3-4 weeks. 10-12 times a year, the ebook wants to validate itself and check
that it's not been tampered with.
To do that requires that you have a live internet connection that's ready to go. If not,
you will encounter some issues. If none of these situations apply to you, then send me an email describing
the specifics of what's happen or not happening. I'll get it fixed for you.
Can I share a copy with my best friend? Well, I have good news and bad
news. First, the good news. Yes, you can share it with anybody you want, as long as they read it on
your computer. For now, the ebook is only available on the computer system where it was originally
registered. Perhaps that may change.
Now, the bad news. You may not give your best friend, your sister, your mom, or anyone else
your copy of the ebook file. When you bought it, it was registered to only you and to your
computer. What if my computer crashes and I need a new one. What
happens with your ebook? It'll probably get buried with the computer, so if your computer is dead,
and you'd like to have another copy for the new one, we can make that happen easily. Send an email
explaining the details of the crash and I'll assist you with doing that.
David, I really liked reading Doug's story. How can I best help you by telling
others about it? The best way is to just tell your friends and refer them to the website where you
bought the ebook. There are lots of reader groups on the Internet to share your excitement. To name
just three, search on "yahoo groups," "msn groups," and "google groups." Once you join a group, you'll
be able to share you opinions and get feedback from other in that group.
And, a method that's growing like crazy is twitter.com. I tweet there and you
can follow me there at twitter.com/davidoneal2.
One final way is to send me an email telling me how much you liked reading the story. I've
already posted a number of those testiminials. It would be great to add yours.
I read your ebook and hated it. Can I really get my money back? Of
course, you can! I know that not all novels satisfy everyone's taste. I'm initiate a refund to your
PayPal account as soon as possible. Thanks for reading my novel.
I'm a Journalist writing for [name withheld]. How do I get a "review copy"
of What Goes Around? Also, do you have a media kit? Shoot me an email using the link
found at the bottom of this page. Fully identify yourself, where you are published, and why you found
What Goes Around so interesting. I'm happy to work with you as much as is
practical.
For the moment, I don't have a media kit posted. Let me know what you need, I'll make it
happen.
Also, if you're affiliated with any number of other business, literary, educational, or
entertainment organizations who often need and use "review copies"-you know who you are-I'm prepared to work with
you for any mutual benefit we might create.
